Community West Bank Displays Original Artwork From MAD Academy Teen Artists

Goleta, California – March 25, 2010: Community West Bank is pleased to announce a wonderful new exhibit of original art at its downtown Santa Barbara branch located at 1501 State Street. The art, created by local teen artists from Santa Barbara High School’s Multimedia Arts & Design (MAD) Academy, will be on display through the end of May.
The MAD Academy is a three-year program that focuses on improving student academic achievement by providing meaningful, relevant, and highly sought after skills. In addition to taking core classes such as English, history, and science, Academy students take advanced computer art classes such as Animation and Digital Photography through Santa Barbara City College. These classes, taught by industry professionals, introduce the students to high-end equipment and the most relevant software.
The MAD Academy exists due, in no small part, to its thriving partnership of parents, teachers, students and the local business community. These partners provide volunteer support, curriculum guidance, internships, and in the case of Community West Bank, a venue to showcase the students artwork.
“We have such talented teen artists in our community,” stated Lynda Nahra, Bank President & CEO, “I couldn’t be more pleased to have these students artwork displayed in our branch. I invite the community to stop by and view their amazing work.”
“The MAD Academy at Santa Barbara High School offers students an academically integrated, career oriented opportunity to learn, create, explore, and train in the growing field of media arts and technology,” stated Dan Williams, MAD Academy Program Director.
The MAD Academy Showcase will be on display through May at Community West Bank’s Santa Barbara branch located at 1501 State Street in Santa Barbara.
