Fall 2023: Community West Bank Gives Back

November 8th, 2023

At Community West Bank, we don't just operate in the communities we serve; we actively participate in them, striving to make them better with every passing day. Just as we offer financial services to help local individuals and businesses thrive, we are equally committed to giving back to our community through contributions in the form of time, financial support and hands on help.

This season, we showed our support and gratitude to a variety of nonprofits and local organizations that are equally committed to helping our community thrive. Our employees celebrate wins alongside the organizations we aim to support. Whether we are sponsoring the SLO Food Bank or Women’s Economic Ventures, we share in success with our partners, and as a team, we are eager to witness the upliftment of our community.

On August 2-6, Community West Bank proudly sponsored Old Spanish Days’ “Viva la Fiesta,” which was a series of events throughout Santa Barbara. This was the 99th anniversary of the celebration, and we look forward to celebrating its 100th! Learn more here: sbfiesta.org

On July 6, we showed support for SLO Food Bank by presenting a check dedicated to their 16th annual Hunger Awareness Day. This organization is responsible for offering food to 30,000 local residents who need it most. Learn more or donate here: https://www.slofoodbank.org/

On October 6, The Women's Economic Ventures (WEV) received a $70,000 AHEAD grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank, San Francisco. Community West Bank played an active role in completing the grant application, and we were thrilled to present the big check to WEV's Kathy Odell, Katya Baty, and Marta Quintero. On September 15, we sponsored the colorful Ventura Art & Street Painting Festival, an annual community event that celebrates art and creativity. If you missed the incredible artwork up close and personal this year, be sure to mark your calendar for the next event. Learn more here: https://venturaartfestival.com/

On September 21, we proudly supported CAUSE (Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy). Recently, our Ventura office staff, led by Joe Espino, presented a check to Kristian Nunez, CAUSE policy advocate, in support of their "Raising Justice" event in Ventura. On September 23, we sponsored the annual Long Walk Home event, a great fundraiser to help support ECHO serving those facing homelessness in SLO County. Learn more or donate here: https://www.echoshelter.org/long-walk-home

Being a true community bank means actively participating in the communities we serve. Throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, we're proud of the work our colleagues do in supporting organizations that better the communities in which they live. We look forward to continuing these efforts and making a lasting impact in the lives of those we serve. Community West Bank is here to build stronger communities together, and we're excited about what the future holds.
